thanks for the welcome. in the end i couldn't make it but i will try for next time and will attempt to get a couple of mates to come there too.

for those not on the s2 forum ill introduce my self and my car without pics for now.

names Gary, im 31 and from Oldham. I have driven sciroccos, corrado and S2. i did a full engine, wiring and interior swap from a written off scirocco storm to my scala. tuned the G60 a little and messed wityh the S2 quite some. im into mapping and engine building too. as well as the german stuff i have mapped a few imprezas in my time too.

my Audi S2 has big turbo, manifold, exhaust, cams, rods, skimmed pistons, reverse inlet, big intercooler. 911 GT2 6 pot brakes, koni's, fully polly/alloy bushed, roll bars, egt/wideband gauges defi boost gauge and eboost 2 EBC. i have mapped it using VEMS ecu and 650cc injectors. looking when finished for 550-600hp.

hope to see you soon

id never buy an impreza i must say. lol.

gotta admit that they handle better than any VAG machine i have driven. a tuned impreza can take some beating.

the worst styling and build though. at around 500hp mark you can feel the shell trying to twist too.

no such problems with the S2. getting them round corners is not as easy as my corrado was though.

look forward to meeting a few of you soon.

my freind has a uk impreza, i have a mk2 golf with a 2.0 engine, we had a race the other week just after the engine had been put in, he was at his limiter on the revs trying to keep up, also when we went round a roundabout i just floored it to get away from him and succeded because the impreza goes sideways if you accelerate whilst going round a tight corner whereas the gold doesn't, so the only impressive thing about impreza's now for me is the noise, i always rated them highly until this, stick with VAG you can't beat it

sounds like an electronic diff issue with that impreza although uk didn't get um. maybe a centre diff issue. impreza uk is 60:40 to the front so handles like a fwd car to be honest.

we will have to agree to disagree on impreza performance then. with proper tuning the noise goes away too. no more chug chug with a proper map.

a standard impreza is not that special though and with a 28% drivetrain loss and 300kg more its always a close contest.

my G60 corrado would be there till about 100 against 350hp imprezas. i had about 200hp.

his impreza is a limited edition uk sport turbo

apparantly, they only named them WRX's after colin won the rally in one, then the insurance went through the roof, he pays less than me, and it's a lower group, he didn't get the bucket seats in but does get the 210bhp torbo motor, also the burble that impreza's make is due to uneual manifold lentghs, one side is longer on 2 posts than the other.

i can't see how a re-map would sort that?!
